- Me and Jono are experimenting with writing poetry weekly, where each week has a theme/format
- The aim isβ¦ I donβt even really know what the aim is. Partly itβs just to make stuff, low-stakes, see where it goes
Week 1
- Quatrains with iambic tetrameter
- E.g., Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost
1
We toss and turn each night for weeks
The pain of sleeping on the sheets
Of beds we share and do not own
Itβs better than to be alone
2
Each cigarette is bad for me
A pounding head and shaking knees
There must be ways to ease the pain
That donβt involve a poisoned brain

There was a cutie at the till
A flirty smile and looks that kill
It has been nice to see the change
Since I bought my thrifted chain
And stepped into a brighter frame
The light shines forth with want and will

This rhythm feels so dull and trite
A plodding beat and lack of bite
I donβt know how to write a verse
With more than just the plainest words
- Note to self - I miss writing vignettes!
Yeah, this doesnβt feel super alive to me tbf - Iβve messaged Jono to see if heβd be up for writing substack posts together, this felt idk, non-exciting, non-essential
