I’m launching entrepreneurial offerings
- So, context here: I’m trying to launch a few different entrepreneurial offerings, like:
Pricing myself is daunting!
- I was happily working on this stuff for a bit, until it came to pricing myself. This felt very daunting, both in terms of “how do I actually determine a fair price” and also re: emotional blocks around charging anything at all
The value of learning sprints
- So, I did a 2 day “learning microeconomics” sprint to investigate how pricing works, and that led to this idea that I could do a sprint re: business in general, because I truly barely know anything here
”Just be in the arena, bro”
- And on the one hand, you could say that all of this stuff is a nerdsnipe. I don’t need to get new intellectual knowledge here, I just need to pitch people, experiment with different prices, etc. And I think you’d be right!
- On the other hand, I think learning the basics of business (and economics), like, “Business 101”, would kind of obviously be a high ROI thing to do, right?
- My most recent learning sprint was a 3 day sprint learning the basics of astrology, see e.g.:
- And this has been ridiculously high ROI. And it’s just astrology, right!?1
- I think there just isn’t a “correct” path here, so I’ll do the one that I’m most excited by2
Next - what do I know about business?
- Will make a separate page for this:
Footnotes
-
I think actually, astrology is kind of a profound thing to learn, if you’re placed at the right time to learn it (that is, if it’s at your “A frontier” (A B U)). Because, it gives you a rich vocabulary to discuss your own psychology, and that of others, and it’s a vocabulary that many people also understand. It feels easy as someone who has existed in STEM land to be like “ha, astrology”, but actually no, I’m very glad I learned it. It has also been wildly useful in my relationship! ↩

That is, I could intentionally avoid all book learning and just pitch my services to people, or I could do book learning for 1-4 weeks to get more knowledgable and unblocked, or I could do both in parallel, having “irons in the fire” of people that I’ve pitched whilst also learning and making a video about the learning process. Not to mention that the video will also be great legitimacy signal to clients of like “hey, this guy is likeable and passionate”, etc. ↩
