The first time I was suspended, it was when I started working from Toronto libraries, and also using my VPN to still get UK versions of websites when needed
Then they suspended me for “impersonating a real person”, or something. So basically I think they thought I was just a bot pretending to be @alexislearning
And then, because Elon gutted the workforce: you can submit an appeal, but nothing happens. I submitted a dozen appeals and never heard a single thing back
The second time
In the last month, I’ve been in England, Kazakhstan, Madrid, back to England, Italy, and now France
And I’m still using my VPN to get served English sites by default, when I remember to turn it on
So yeah, fair enough that I might seem fake. I just wish there was a way that I could submit a video of myself, or something. It’d be so easy to prove that I am in fact me. I have a passport, a driving license, my face, etc. But sadly they just don’t have the systems
Now what?
It took ages to get back up to my classic ~400 followers
It was just starting to be a useful source for clients
I imagine that, with an intentional strategy & tweeting a bunch, I could get back up to 200+ quickly. But like, what if it just happens again? It probably will at some point
Could see this as the universe saying “give up on twitter, move to substack”, or something. Idk yet. But I definitely want to get more intentional with ~marketing and internet-as-serendipity-engine regardless, so this is a useful bump
